Tuesday Tips

I realize I’m a day late for this, but we did just get back last night from a very awesome trip to Arizona and Las Vegas visiting family. We were gone for five whole nights and six days! We loved seeing all of them and can’t wait to do it again… plus, their weather was more like early summer and we came home to 18+ inches of snow!

Do you have Photoshop? If not, get it! If you are really into photography and want to learn how to make your pictures even more awesome, there’s no better way to learn than playing around. Read photography websites. Pick up tips from other photographers, and see what is current in the industry. One site that I love is Pioneer Woman. She blogs about everything, from home-schooling to her life on the mid-west plains. She also loves photography and shares wonderful tips! I love her (free!) action sets. Photoshop actions are a way of speeding up your workflow and can give your photos more *pop*, or *umph* or *pizazz*, you pick. Once you understand how they work and how you can tweak them, you can get amazing results! Click here to see her Photoshop actions. She has sets for full Photoshop and also Photoshop Elements. They are really fun to play with and can be a good way to learn new tricks!

For this edit, I didn’t only use Pioneer Woman’s actions. I did some tweaking of my own, but her actions definitely got me closer to the end result I desired more quickly then doing those same edits one at a time. I used her “Warmer”, “Bring on the Eyes”, and “Slight Lighten” actions, to name a few. I needed more light on her face and wanted to brighten her pretty eyes. Have a lovely Christmas everyone!!

Andrea Kirk - Amber! I didn’t know that you did photography!! I will call you for my artwork. I always need a good photographer when I paint people. I really wish I could bring you to Haiti with me and get amazing pictures of Kethia and her friends. Good work! You are very talented.
