  • Welcome! My name is Amber Prior…

... and here are some fun facts about me: I've been 5'11" tall since eighth grade. I am a bit of a nerd; I love listening to long audio books (Brandon Sandersen is my current fave!) while I clean the house. I wear glasses when I can't stand my contacts any longer. Believe it or not, I married a total hunk who is my best friend. We have four beautiful children together: two boys and two girls. We are a full-time homeschooling, part-time traveling crazy little group of musical gypsies. Oh, and I happen to be a photographer on the side.

This blog is where I record my photographic pursuits. My obsession with cameras has taken a back seat to teaching and raising our family, but I still dabble with professional work once in a while. I specialize in natural-light portraiture. I love shooting outdoors and am always on the lookout for the best lighting combined with the perfect location. Contact me for availability and pricing.

Dallin

This boy. All grown up. He’s my baby brother, turned into a strapping young man. He has always been cheerful, spunky, and kind and now possesses a streak of thoughtful determination. He has excelled at many subjects academically and achieved recognition athletically. (And captured many female hearts, socially.) Now I only have a few more short months to coerce him into battling his nephews at Super Smash Brothers until he leaves for college and beyond. What a joy he has been in my life.Dallin_001Dallin_002

Jada

This beautiful gal is graduating in a few short weeks. We had a blast on our photo shoot! She is comfortable and natural in front of the camera. She even decoded a few of my posing terms. For example, she observed that when I say, “Turn your head a little this way,” she said I really mean “Turn your CHIN a little this way.” Haha! What a clever gal. Also, her personality really shone when we incorporated these beautiful trees. Yes, she is a tree-hugger.

Kade

Every spring when graduation rolls around, I look forward to the chance of photographing a few of these amazing seniors. They are full of life and ready to take on the world. Kade was pumped to take some photos with his Grandfather’s camera. It is so old! I can’t even fathom the skill and knowledge it took to operate one of those bad boys. I mean, no preview screen to see if focus is tack-sharp? No way of checking for correct exposure (aside from a light meter)? Kudos to the film lovers out there. Kade will have many adventures ahead. DSC_1576DSC_1665DSC_1667DSC_1709DSC_1757DSC_1761DSC_1831DSC_1858

Joy and Brandon

This beautiful couple is getting married on my birthday (June 11). I am so happy for Joy and Brandon. I’ve watched Joy grow from a cute girl into a beautiful woman. She has always had a spunky zest for life, wanting to change the world wherever she goes. Her adventurous spirit took her to New Mexico, where she fell in love with Brandon and his motorcycle. His calm and cheerful nature is a perfect balance to hers. Even though it was about 35 degrees while taking these photos, the warmth emanating from this couple couldn’t be chilled.
